Mount St Mary's Primary School in Leeds recently witnessed the installation of a further eleven Daikin heat pumps.

This was the final stage in replacing the existing electric convector heaters with inverter heat pumps.

The school, a flat roofed modular construction, had suffered over the winter months, with the electric heating failing to maintain a comfortable environment for the children. Inverter technology allowed Kirwin Air Conditioning to systematically remove each of the 1 kW electric heaters and replace with an Air Conditioning heat pump capable of up to 3.5 kW of heating. This negated the need to upgrade the Schools electrical supply whilst increasing their heating output by 300%. They are also looking forward to reduced operating costs.

On the flip side they can also control class room temperatures during the summer months.

Work replacing the existing electric heating systems commenced in the summer of 2007. The School now totals 19 split system heat pumps.
